QV sg8a 1d red-brown (D-H) plate 38 with fine maltese cross on blued paper

Spec BS27

SG: plates 37 to 45 become progressively scarcer with the Maltese cross, the plate 38 was put to press and registered on 26 July 1843, withdrawn from press 22 January 1844 and destroyed 25 June 1844. Estimated number of sheets printed: 41,850, earliest known date of use: 1 September 1843. Catalogue value = from £100.
